Photos with Santa, crafts, lighting the Christmas tree, hay rides, fireworks, Camas Schools entertainment, food & refreshments - it’s all back this year for the City of Camas’ popular event, Hometown Holidays. Check out the schedule of events for the night: HOMETOWN HOLIDAYS 2017 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Hometown Holidays will be held on Friday, December 1 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.  Activities include welcoming entertainment at 6:00PM in front of Liberty Theatre and the lighting of the Christmas tree by Mayor Scott Higgins at 6:30PM.  Photos with Santa start early this year, at 5:00PM.  From 6:45PM to 9:00PM, Downtown Camas will be bustling with over 15 school and community choirs, bands and dancers, photos with Santa, tractor hay rides, crafts for the kids, street food vendors, and downtown restaurants and shops open for business.  The event begins earlier this year to coincide with the Downtown Camas Association’s 5:00PM start of First Friday.

The event continues to be free, thanks to the financial support of Columbia Credit Union, Concerts for a Cause, Your Party & Event Center, Windermere Real Estate, Unitus Community Credit Union, Downtown Camas Association, IQ Credit Union, and in-kind donors and volunteers.  All of the event activities are free.  Of course, you’ll pay to eat at the various restaurants and food vendors that night and to shop for your holiday gifts in Camas’ well-known historic downtown.   The tree-lighting, along with fireworks, happens at 6:30pm sharp; you don’t want to be late.

“Each year just gets better and better.” says Krista Bashaw, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Camas, who has coordinated the event for over 12 years.  “This is one of our community’s favorite events.  It gets us in the mood for the holiday and it helps bring out the “kid” in all of us.”

“An important change to note,” adds Bashaw, “is that Santa will be ready for photos beginning at 5:00PM this year and will end early at 8:30PM.”  Santa’s Photos will be located in the large canopy tent, on Birch Street near N.E. 4th Avenue.
