The Mayor's Monthly Volunteer Spirit Award  recognizes exceptional effort by an individual, group, organization or business whose selfless efforts demonstrate
“the Camas-way” in meeting the needs of our community,  thereby keeping it the best place to live.

January Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Fuel Medical

The very first Volunteer Spirit Award goes to Fuel Medical for their offering to donate their time, expense and energy to decorate the Lacamas Lodge for the Christmas holiday season. The Lodge is a gem in our community and during the holidays, now it will shine like one!

 

 

              February Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient             

Bill and Sherri Smith

The Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award goes to Bill & Sherri Smith for their offering to donate their time, materials and energy to landscape the Camas-Washougal Municipal Court grounds. The grounds were in need of some TLC and now they look marvelous!

March Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Mark Klein

The Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award goes to Mark Klein for his exemplary work resulting in the passing of the Camas School District's Bond and his ongoing contributions to the Downtown Camas Association.

 

 


 April Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Kari Jensen

The Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award goes to Kari Jensen for using her time and artistic talents in reviving the playground at Crown Park. This monthly award recognizes exceptional effort by an individual, group, organization or business whose selfless efforts demonstrate “the Camas-way” in meeting the needs of our community, thereby keeping it the best place to live.

 May Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Susan Greif

  The Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award goes to Susan Greif for using her time and energy to be the embodiment of Ziggy the Zebra! The Grass Valley Elementary school mascot. This monthly award recognizes exceptional effort by an individual, group, organization or business whose selfless efforts demonstrate “the Camas-way” in meeting the needs of our community, thereby keeping it the best place to live.

 

June Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Ulrike Halverson

Mayor Pro Tem Shannon Turk, presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Ulrike Halverson for her 10 years of dedication in organizing the exhibits at the Second Story Gallery, her "artist's eye" and volunteer spirit that nurtures the love of art in our community.

 

 

July Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Sean Vergillo

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Sean Vergillo for his years of dedication in maintaining the City's park trails, his ongoing membership on the Camas Parks Commission and coordinator of the Lacamas Trails Advocacy Group - all citizens of Camas reap the benefits of this "guardian" of our most treastured natural resources, our parks and trails.

August Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Doug Quinn

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Doug Quinn for his ready-and-willing attitude to take an active role in community events and his faithful dedication to the City as part of the Camas School Board, the Downtown Camas Association, and many other organizations that enrich the community.

September Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Eunice Abrahamsen

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Eunice Abrahamsen for her tireless dedication, resourceful efforts and community leadership as part of the Friends of the Cemetery and Parks & Recreation Commission. This monthly award recognizes exceptional effort by an individual, group, organization or business whose selfless efforts demonstrate “the Camas-way” in meeting the needs of our community, thereby keeping it the best place to live.

 October Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Camas United Methodist Church

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Camas United Methodist Church for sponsoring Movies in the Park for 10 years in partnership with Camas Parks & Recreation and their hands-on involvement at each event.

 

 

 

 

November Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Gene Marlow

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Gene Marlow for his on-going collaboration with local schools, churches and civic organizations, and for his generous donations of fireworks at community events. 

 

 December Volunteer Spirit Award Recipient

Matt Olson

Mayor Scott Higgins presented the Mayor's Volunteer Spirit Award to Matt Olson for his generous underwriting of Concerts for a Cause, which has aided in funding the Camtown Youth Festival and hometown Holidays; and most recently, for Matt going above and beyond to restore a citizen's flood-damaged home.
