The Camas Public Library recognises the value of volunteers’ contributions to the success of the library mission. Volunteers perform a variety of activities, tasks and projects at the library. Library jobs are protected by the local Office and Professional Employees International Union and therefore, volunteer activities are limited to those tasks not identified in Union Employee Job Descriptions.

Some typical volunteer jobs include:
- Edging shelves (pulling books and other library materials out to the edge of the shelf, straightening and adjusting the bookends).
- Shelf reading (checking the label on each item to make sure it is in the right place on the right shelf in the library).
- Teaching people (one on one) how to use computers at the library.
- Odd jobs as needed:
Moving materials
Stuffing envelopes
Reminder telephone calls for special programs
Cleaning books
Gardening
Programming help (including the summer reading program)
Friends of the Camas Library Friends and Foundation Book Sale and other fundraisers
Youth Advisory Council - for teens 13-17 years old. See the YAC Job Description!
