Youth Advisory Council

 YAC!! What is it?
A teen volunteer group that meets every first Tuesday of the month 7:00 – 8:00 pm.

At the meetings you may be asked to:

• Make suggestions for the library to purchase.
• Help plan teen programs, such as Library Fear Factor and the Mystery Night.
• Discuss what’s popular in teen books, magazines, music, and movies.
• Decorate/rearrange parts of the library.
• And more!

What else does this group do?

• YAC members help run other library events (such as the library booth at CamTown, the Gingerbreadman Workshop for kids, the Book Swaps, etc.).
• You can sign up for special projects, such as helping search for missing books or counting Summer Reading Program prizes

Requirements:

• 13 to 17 years of age.
• Have a Camas or Fort Vancouver Library Card.
• You MUST have a email address that you check regularly.

Commitment:

• Attend monthly meetings.
• Sign up to help run other library events (such as the library booth at CamTown, Summer Reading Program events, etc.).
• Recruit other teens to the teen events.

What You Get Out of It:

• Snacks at the meetings!
• Find new friends that also love the library!
• You can use the library as a reference for job and college applications.
• Earn volunteer hours that can be used toward scholarship applications and service organizations, such as the Key Club and National Honor Society.
• The warm fuzzy feeling you get for volunteering your time!
