Youth Advisory Council
YAC!! What is it?
A teen volunteer group that meets every first Tuesday of the month 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
At the meetings you may be asked to:
- Make suggestions for the library to purchase.
- Help plan teen programs, such as Library Fear Factor and the Mystery Night.
- Discuss what’s popular in teen books, magazines, music, and movies.
- Decorate/rearrange parts of the library.
- And more!
What else does this group do?
- YAC members help run other library events (such as the library booth at CamTown, the Gingerbreadman Workshop for kids, the Book Swaps, etc.).
- You can sign up for special projects, such as helping search for missing books or counting Summer Reading Program prizes
Requirements:
- 13 to 17 years of age.
- Have a Camas or Fort Vancouver Library Card.
- You MUST have a email address that you check regularly.
Commitment:
- Attend monthly meetings.
- Sign up to help run other library events (such as the library booth at CamTown, Summer Reading Program events, etc.).
- Recruit other teens to the teen events.
What You Get Out of It:
- Snacks at the meetings!
- Find new friends that also love the library!
- You can use the library as a reference for job and college applications.
- Earn volunteer hours that can be used toward scholarship applications and service organizations, such as the Key Club and National Honor Society.
- The warm fuzzy feeling you get for volunteering your time!
